Guitar Heroes

In all of my years of playing I've studied the works of many of my guitar heroes, like ACE FREHLEY of KISS, DAVE MUSTAIN of MEGADEATH, JAMES HETTFIELD of METALICA, RANDY RHODES from OZZY OSBOURNE.
ACE FREHLEY taught me how to write and play lead guitar, he used primarily pentatonic scales in his lead guitar writing, with alot of tremolo picking and alot of crazy note bending.
DAVE MUSTAIN taught me to play my rhythms titer, as well as he taught me the importance of using my pick hand correctly.
JAMES HETTFIELD taught me to play titer and fast as well as how to get the best sound out of my amp.
RANDY RHODES taught me to play modes, which help to create a fuller sound when you are playing by yourself, and he help me develop my ballad writing abilities.
I have studied many more guitarist but the point I am wanting to make today is that you should study your guitar heroes, they have succeded at their craft and their music can help you learn, improve your skills and creativity, while all at the same time keeping you excited, focused and challenged. WHO ARE YOUR GUITAR HEROES?
UNTIL NEXT TIME KEEP ROCKIN AND LEARNING, PRACTICE!!!!!!

Improving your dexterity

Today I want to show you some alternate picking, and finger exercises that will help improve your dexterity. In the picture to the left, the guitar tab, you will notice that it tells you what finger to use for each note as well as whether to pick each note with an upstroke or a downstroke. Follow it closely and when it gets to be comfortable then change it up a little bit so that you keep challenging yourself. Until next time KEEP ROCKIN and PRACTICING!!!!!This policy is valid from 02 November 2007

Reading Tab Sheet Music: Part 1

To day I hope to help you understand how to read guitar tab and play what you read, all with the help of "GUNS N ROSES" "Welcome To The Jungle", so follow close( just pull it up by clicking on it ) and enjoy.
Practice and practice!!!! Any questions Please Leave a comment and I will address them At ziggy2get69@Gmail.com. Just in case you are wandering this is only the first 8 measures of this song. I also would suggest that you buy a electronic tuner, it will make tuning alot easier, especially since todays music is full of many different tunings, such as halfstep down tuning ( which by the way many bands in the early 70's thru to present day tend to use), Drop D tuning( very popular with almost all the METAL bands of the 80's and 90's), then there is DADGAG tuning( very popular with bands like SYSTEM OF A DOWN, and DISTURBED, as well as many more). Until next time keep ROCKIN AND PRACTICING!!!!!!

Learning to Play Guitar On Your Own

I have been playing guitar for 15 years. I have found that practice really does make for perfection, the problem is that after awhile you will find yourself bored or even frustrated due to your choice of study material. The best thing to do is to find more material that is both exciting and challenging. Through the use of the Internet I have found many use full sites from which you can find material to increase your knowledge whether you are just starting out or been playing for awhile, there is plenty of material available for one to keep learning or to start learning, which ever the case may be. I strongly suggest that if you are a beginner that your focus on reading guitar sheet music from the start, whether it be standard notation or tab form, that way it becomes second nature right from the start. I only say this because from my own experience I found out the hard way, I tried to learn after I had already been playing for awhile, by then its almost as hard as teaching an old dog new tricks. Until next time keep rocking and learning.
